    Hello, CALIMARICHAN !

Great job on completing lesson 1

Your work is great and here are my observations:

1.Your superimposed lines exercise looks great: the lines are smooth, confident. They don't fray at both ends, you did 2 pages and the lengths are different. You did all that you were asked, good job.

2.Your ghosted lines are also good, confident, smooth, very accurate, don't arc much. Great!

3.In ghosted planes exercises you keep the good work with your lines, no remarks. Good job!

4.Your Ellipses exercise also shows effort: ellipses are smooth, planned, accurate, and you draw through them several times. Everything's in place.

5.Your Ellipses in planes exercises also turned out very nice, although one of the pages has some drawing covering some of the planes. Nevertheless, I think what you showed is enough to understand that you completed the main goal of this exercise.

6.Your funnels are perfect: smooth, accurate, aligned to minor axis - great! (Try doing ellipses with different degrees for warmups)

7.In your plotted perspective exercise all the lines are drawn correctly . Great!

8.Your rough perspective exercise looks nice: line work is perfect, I see quite an improvement with the lines converging to the VP on the second page. Good job.

    1. Your rotated boxes exercise is decently done. You clearly understand how to rotate your boxes well and the line work is good!

    2. In organic perspective I like the creativity with how the boxes are coming from a distance. You clearly understood the purpose of the exercise.. ( Although some boxes look flat but don’t worry about it right now you will understand this better when you attempt the box challenge)

    Conclusion:-

You clearly understood what was asked of you and attempted the exercises keeping that in mind. Good job!!

All in all,I think you are clear to proceed to the 250 box challenge.

Be sure to revisit lesson 1 for warmups during the box challenge!

You can reply here if you have any questions or thoughts.

Keep up the good work and good luck!

    Hello WASABAE!

    Good job with the revision!

The boxes are much better made and are converging better towards the vp than your last try.

Although they can be still be improved but I think you understand the main goal of the exercise!

All in all I think you are now clear for the 250 box challenge!

Make sure to do lesson 1 as warmups during the box challenge!!!!

Keep up the good work and good luck!

    Next Steps:

    Proceed to 250 box challenge!!

    Hello, WASABAE !

Your work is great and here are my observations:

1-Your superimposed lines exercise looks great: the lines are smooth, confident. They don't fray at both ends, you did 2 pages and the lengths are different. You did all that you were asked, good job.

2-Your ghosted lines are also good, confident, smooth, very accurate, don't arc much. Great!

3-In ghosted planes exercises you keep the good work with your lines, no remarks. Good job!

4-Your Ellipses exercise also shows effort: ellipses are smooth, planned, accurate, and you draw through them several times. Everything's in place.

5-Your Ellipses in planes exercises also turned out very nice.

6-Your funnels are perfect: smooth, accurate, aligned to minor axis ( a few don’t) but still great job!

7-In your plotted perspective exercise all the lines are drawn correctly, except one of the boxes in the upper plane clearly has not ideal vertical lines. It is not a mistake though (because we use ruler there), just an observation.

8- Your rough perspective exercise looks like it can use some improvement :- lines are wobbly , back faces are way off…

!!! The lines making the front and back faces of the box should be parallel and perpendicular to the horizon line..

Although you did improve on the second page but still could have done better..

!!!! I think you should redo this exercise…

9- !!! Your rotated boxes exercise also needs improvement : the boxes are just slightly rotated ,in fact the third box on either side isn’t rotated at all , corner boxes are a little off, . Also the back faces are very off: https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/17/guessing , they need to be tighter, just as front faces. Unfortunately, I added this 9th remark of mine later, cause I forgot to look at this exercise. It would actually be nice to redo this exercise during warmups , paying more attention to the back faces of the boxes and making sure that the boxes are rotated. Right now it looks like the boxes are too close to the viewer. !!!

10-In organic perspective exercise you do seem to grasp the concept although the boxes are a bit off.

!!!!! No need stress over the last two exercises

they are supposed to be hard and you’ll have a better grasp of them when you do the box challenge so make sure to revisit them during warmups …

!!! you should redo rough perspective exercises at least one page!!!

You can reply here if you have any questions or thoughts.

Keep up the good work and good luck!

    Next Steps:

    Rough perspective one more try!!

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

    Hello NEONDEVILUKE!

Good job on completing lesson 1!

let’s see how did you do!

    1. Your super imposed exercise looks good. Lines are smooth, confident ,fray only on one side and you did 2 pages of different lengths you did as you were asked to do. Good job!

    2. Your ghosted lines are also impressive : lines are smooth ,confident ,they don’t arc much and almost hitting both points ( you did miss some but it’s okay because accuracy comes with practice).

    Great!

    1. In ghosted planes exercises you keep the good work with your lines, no remarks. Good job!

    2. Your Ellipses exercise also shows effort: ellipses are smooth, planned, accurate, and you draw through them several times. Everything's in place.

    3. Your Ellipses in planes exercises also turned out nice, although some ellipses do seem to be deformed.I think you tried to make your ellipses touch all four sides so they didn’t retain a smooth elliptical shape. Your first priority is a smooth elliptical shape and then accuracy.

For them to touch all sides you can just change the orientation of your ellipse.

    1. In Funnels again some of your ellipses seem to be deformed and most of them don’t align to minor axis(only a few do)..

( I recommend you revisit this exercise during warmups)

    1. In your plotted perspective exercise all the lines are drawn correctly. Good job!

    2. Your rough perspective exercise looks nice: line work is perfect

But in your first page you didn’t extend your lines up to horizon line so I can’t tell whether you improved on the second page or not??

    1. Rotated boxes exercise also looks good : gaps are narrow and consistent and the lines are smooth/ confident but the boxes are just slightly rotated ,it would’ve been better if the rotation was a bit more drastic but still good job!

    2. Organic perspective exercise looks nice you and did better job with drawing boxes on second page compared to your first. Nice!!

Overall I think you did great job!

!!!!!You need more practise with your ellipses so keep practicing them during your warmups during the 250 boxes!

You can reply here if you have any questions or thoughts.

Keep up the good work and good luck!

    Next Steps:

I’m marking this lesson as complete so feel free to proceed to 250 box challenge also don’t forget to do lesson 1 exercises as warmups during the 250 box challenge !!

    Hi there!

    Good job with the revision!!

The ellipses now mostly align to the minor axis ( much better than last try) but practice smooth ellipses in your warmups from now on and make sure to review your critique while doing so.

Nevertheless I think you are now clear to proceed to 250 box challenge!!

Keep up the good work and good luck!

    Next Steps:

    Proceed to 250 box challenge!!!

Remember to do warm up exercises of lesson 1 during the 250 box challenge!!

    Hello KATOKI!

Good work on completing lesson 1

let’s see how did you do!

1• For super imposed lines on the first page I see a lot of wobbling but you did improve on the second page. The lines are fraying only on one side, you did two pages of different lengths , you did what you were asked. Good job

2•For ghosted lines most of the lines are still wobbly but you show improvement going towards right side , I’m assuming you started from the left side. Also the lines are almost hitting both points and don’t arc much. Great!

3• In ghosted planes the line work has improved. Great job!

4• Your ellipses exercise also shows effort: ellipses are almost smooth , planned and you draw through them several times. Everything’s in place.

5• !!! Your ellipses in plane exercise could use some improvement.

There are several things I think you need to work on:

    • Smooth ellipses : your ellipses are not confident enough instead they are wobbly. Seems to me you drew them too slowly worrying about accuracy ( that they touch all four sides) which is wrong.

Your first priority is a smooth, confident ellipse.

    • Deformed ellipse: Your ellipses seem to be deformed. You change the shape of your ellipse to fit your plane.

You could just change the orientation of ellipse to the fit the plane.

    https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/13/deformed

Be sure to revisit this exercise during warm ups.

6• Your funnels exercise is a little better: the ellipses are smoother (can still use some improvement) and most of them align to the minor axis (some don’t). Good job!

7• Your plotted perspective exercise is great so not much to critique there!

8•!!!!! Your rough perspective exercise needs to be improved:

•Most of your horizontal lines are not parallel and vertical are not perpendicular to normal (which they should be)

    • Your lines do improve in converging to the vp on the second page but the last section seems way off. I’m assuming it was done next day.

9•!!! Your rotated boxes exercise is mostly decent: you rotate the boxes nicely but the lines are not confident and smooth. Also the back faces are little off and don’t seem to be rotated. They should converge to the same vp points as the front faces.

But this exercise is supposed to be hard so no need to stress over it

But I do recommend you revisit this exercise in your warm ups..

10•In organic perspective you rotate the boxes nicely and they do seem to be coming out from a distance but Again the lines are wobbly and not smooth enough.

I think the main thing you need to work is drawing a smooth, confident line/ellipse:

I think you draw your lines/ellipses too slow and carefully thinking you might mess them up.

What you need to do is spend some extra time ghosting and then draw a confident line/ellipse from your shoulder without worrying about end result.

    Speeding up might help.

Remember accuracy comes with practise so don’t worry about it if you can’t nail a smooth, confident line ellipse.

    Mrdrawbox talks about a lot.

Revisit this page linked below on how to draw your lines

    https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/10/execution

All in all, I think you are clear to proceed to the 250 box challenge.

But make sure to do warmups during your 250 box challenge while reviewing your critique!

You can reply here if you have any questions or thoughts.

Keep up the good work and good luck!
