Thank you so much for your review. I'll keep practicing the arrows and ellipses and some other exercises.

Hello!!! Sorry for seeing this so late. I'm now more satisfied with the ellipses. I can see there's more intention. Aiming for perfection is not the way right now, instead it's intention and that's what you did! Keep that in mind for your next lessons as well.

    Next Steps:

    Keep going with lesson 2!!

HI! Thanks for doing the revision, they look pretty neat now. Just a reminder from now on to go over your ellipses 2 or 3 times, not more. Anyways, you nailed the ellipses, it looks so much better now. You can go on to the 250 box challenge:D

    Next Steps:

250 Box Challenge. Keep it up!

HI!!! Congrats on posting and finishing lesson 1. I'm going to give you some notes on your homework. Side note: please next time post your photos in order of each section of the lesson since it´s a little hard to keep track of it.

    LINES:

    1. As you mentioned there are times when you don't start your lines from the initial dot, that's fine since you are already aware of it. Just keep that in mind.

    2. Ghosted lines look good even if you don't get accurate, get to the habit of ghosting since it's going to be useful in the future. Your planes look fine, too. Sometimes your lines arch a bit but again that is fine since we're starting.

    ELLIPSES:

    1. I notice you don´t go over your ellipses in some parts of the exercises here. Please this is really important, even if you think you got the right shape first try, keep going over.

    2. Your table of ellipses look pretty neat, In the planes, on one page you didn´t go over your ellipses and they don´t touch the bounds of the plane, however on the second page you seem to fix that. I'll ask on a revision, to redo a page of funnels, so you go over your ellipses.

    BOXES:

    1. In plotted perspective, your boxes look clean and solid. Good job! In the next exercises, your lines look wobbly and make your boxes look like jelly. Use ghosting, plan your lines, place dots to guess safely where your line should go. Your rotated boxes aren't actually rotating, the end result should be a sort of round shape. This exercise is really difficult so don't obsess over this mistake.

Conclusion: I'll only ask for a revision on funnels, to make sure you go over your ellipses. Don't worry about the comments on your boxes, you'll have plenty of time and practice on the 250 box challenge. I'm sure you'll develop your own strategies. Good luck and keep moving forward!

    Next Steps:

One page of funnels. You can do it!

Hi, I love your comments. You were right specially on the organic intersections. I had so much trouble for that and even in this revision I struggled so bad, I don´t think it looks right but I´ll send it anyways to share your thoughts. Thanks for commenting!

Hii, thank you for your reply, yes in summary that's what I'm trying to say, you are gonna practice that with the 250 boxes. Good luck and keep going!

HI! Don´t worry about the pages for ellipses in planes, it´s okay to just add the 2 pages.

I´m gonna divide into the three sections: lines, ellipses and boxes.

    LINES:

Your lines are confident and smooth all the way through, which is fantastic even if you don´t get accurate at first. Just a reminder to start your lines from the same point. In your planes, I can see that you plotted your lines(planned where a line starts and finishes), just a reminder to keep this habit of ghosting(thinking about your lines) since it´s really useful in the future.

    ELLIPSES:

In the table of ellipses, each ellipse must touch each other and kept in the bounds, in the second page I see that you had trouble with that, but I think it´s allright since in the first page you did much better. Again, in the planes some ellipses don´t touch the bounds of the planes. I suggest to use the ghosting method, plan your ellipses before the pen touches the paper keeping in mind the bounds, practice those in another page. Your funnels are great, just a reminder again that your ellipses should be close to each other.

    BOXES:

The boxes look pretty fine and clean in the first exercise. In rough perspective, your first boxes look jelly-like and messy but as you keep going it starts to take shape into much solid boxes, good job! On rotated boxes, the boxes aren´t actually rotating, the drawing at the end should be in a kinda circular shape. I see a lot of people including myself to have trouble with this. So don´t worry, you´ll have more practice with the 250 box challenge, just keep that in mind. With organic perspective you did a pretty good job, there´s some common mistakes like lines a little wobbly, but you´ll have plenty of time to practice. I suggest to take a look at the extra notes on boxes, altought I know they can be exhausting and confusing but give it a try.

That´s all I can say about your work, tell me what you think!

Hi, this is my second review, hopefully I could help you in something.

Your superimposed lines where okay, although the start of the lines where off, you seemed to overcome them in the second page, you are getting the hang of it. Your ghosted lines are fine, don't worry about not hitting the target sometimes, you'll get there.

The ghosted planes on itself where fine. The issue that i have is with the ellipses. There's improvement in your ellipses between the first and second page of planes, you have some nice and smoother ellipses at the end. However, remember that the ellipses should be touching the four sides of the plane. I suggested to redo at least one page with that in mind.

Table of ellipses: I don't have any complains here, just don't slow down while going around the ellipses.

On the funnels, personally I would like you to do redo just one more page. The ellipses should be as close as possible to each other and have the minor axis cut between them. Review this part of the lesson about mistakes in funnels and keep that in mind while working at them:https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/14/notaligned https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/14/spacing

Plotted perspective: your boxes are smooth and nicely done. You seem to understand the exercise. Good job!

On rough perspective, I would suggest to use the ghosting method to avoid woobly lines, you can even place dots to guide you. But overall, this is a pretty common and normal mistake, so no need to worry. Apply what I said on the 250 box challenge if you feel like it.

The rotated boxes are hard on itself, the corners are off and some boxes aren't actually rotating. It´s okay to struggle since on the 250 box challenge you'll get more practice.

To be honest, your exercises on organic perspective are really good, amazingly done in my opinion. Just remeber to use the ghosting method and placing dots that already said, at least those helped me, don't know if you'll find them useful.

Personally, I would like you to redo just those two pages of ellipses in planes and funnels with the recommendations I offered.

    Next Steps:

One page of Ellipses in Planes

    One page of funnels

PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
