    Hi DIO,

Thank you very much for the critique! Also, apologies for not uploading the organic intersections properly.

About the "drawing through" the organic intersections part, this is actually something I tried in warm ups after I saw you mention it in other students' critiques. But I found it quite difficult to wrap my head around it because the outlines of the form in the front don't seem to mesh well with the ones in the back. In this example I find that drawing through the sausages makes them look more flat. Do you have any examples or suggestions for solving this in a more 3D way?

Thank you for the extensive feedback. It answered a few more questions that came up while doing the homework.

If you don't mind me adding another one, are cast shadows considered texture in the context of DAB? Looking at L4 for example, should I only add cast shadows to the last 6 pages of insects? Or are cast shadows "allowed" in the first 4 pages as well, for establishing the spatial relationships between forms?

Thank you for the helpful comments and suggestions, I'll be sure to come back to them during warm ups.

    Have a nice week!

    Hi Tofu

Thank you for the thorough critique! I do try to lift my pen when I reach the end point but it seems I just need more practice with it.

Hope you'll have an enjoyable break!

Thank you for answering my question and for the critique! I'm glad I don't need to do any additional boxes haha

Thanks for the tips on lines, funnels and rough perspective. Regarding the organic perspective exercise, I think I was lead astray by the video thumbnail about drawing through the boxes. Appreciate the note about line weight there as well.

    Thank you!

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

On the flipside, they tend to be on the cheaper side of things, so if you're just getting started (beginners tend to have poor pressure control), you're probably going to destroy a few pens - going cheaper in that case is not a bad idea.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
