Good afternoon, I'm Sarah, reviewing your homework today. Well done for attempting the course again.

    Lines

Superimposed Lines - You have shorter & longer, curved & straight, a good range. There is only an occasional wobble, mostly in the 'S' curved lines, which are harder. One or two sets do have a little fraying at both ends, mostly the slanted ones in the 2nd page, which may indicate a slight bit of rushing. Overall, the work follows the aim of the exercise, well done.

Ghosted Lines - These lines focus well on the confidence of the stroke without wobble & only a tiny bit of arching. The lines do fade towards the end of several strokes, try to keep the minimum weight consistent through to the end of the stroke. The accuracy will come with practice.

Ghosted Planes - These are great. All the accuracy issues, speed issues are completely gone in this exercise. Well done. Be careful of the 'ghosting' lines actually connecting with the paper.

    Ellipses

Table of Ellipses - A good understanding of what was asked, a good variety of borders, ellipse size & shape, drawing through each one 2-3 times, well done./In a few sections the ellipses aren't snug against the edge of the box or each other, but overall well done.

Ellipses in Planes - These ellipses fit into the planes well & are smoothly drawn. One or two are drawn through more than the 2-3 times. Otherwise, look great.

Funnels - The exercise is laid out properly & the ellipses are aligned to the minor axis, they do also show a widening of the face as they move away from the centre point. Several are drawn through more than the requested 2-3 times though.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective - You've completed this well, with a ruler, plotting back to the 2 points & vertical lines are all (but one) vertical. A couple of lines have been drawn twice, there is one missing plotted line & some of the hatching overshoots the edges. Otherwise, completed well.

Rough Perspective - The 1 point perspective is correctly set up. The front and back faces are rectangular. Only a couple of extension lines miss the back corner slightly. All the lines appear confidently drawn. Well done.

Rotated Boxes - The layout, in the photo, does not have the squares at the ends of the vertical & horizontal lines. I see the edge of one on the right side, so not sure if this is a consequence of the photography or if they are missing. The official critique states to mention this. Do ensure to follow the instructions fully. The gaps between the boxes appear tight & fairly consistent. The boxes rotate, are all drawn through & the 4 corner boxes are present. Do be careful not to overdraw lines. Well done.

Organic Perspective - These follow the aims of the exercise, smaller to larger along the line. The sets of edges converge with good evidence of negotiating the corners. The hatching is a little more sketchy, missing the edges of the faces & on one box, in 2 directions. Although not part of the Critique points, there is an emphasis in DrawaBox that all lines on the page are intentional & carefully drawn.

    Conclusion

All the exercises grasp the point of the exercise. Do be careful not to rush, redraw lines & ensure all lines are intentional & carefully drawn.

    Next Steps:

Please move on to the 250 Box Challenge. As your 2nd go at it, I hope it doesn't take too long to complete. Don't forget to practise these exercises in warm-ups.

Thank you, I struggled with the ellipses more, hence didn't try to overstretch. Appreciate the suggestion.

Thank you. Yes, ellipses were more difficult for me.

    Much appreciated.

Thank you for your critique. I do see your point and have done a further page of the Organic Perspective exercise. I do have a fondness for pencil sketching, which may explain one of the criticisms!

I'm a little new to this system, so I'm hoping this works for sending the link.

    Thank you again

Thank you. I did a quick search and came up with Flickr, which seems to have worked. But your insight is appreciated.

Marco Bucci's Getting Started with Digital Painting

Marco Bucci's got a ton of great courses available on proko.com, including some of the best videos you can find on using colour and light. Since a lot of our students want to break into working with digital painting however, I thought this course in particular would be a great start to get into the weeds with how to navigate the confusing world of layers, brushes, and more.

This course highlights programs across the full spectrum of options, ranging from the current industry standard Adobe Photoshop, to the Free-and-Open-Source darling Krita, as well as the mobile favourite, Procreate.
