Yo Elvenstar! your submission looks amazing keep up the good work mate. between congratulations on completing this challenge :)

Hi! this is Chiran and I'll try my best to provide solid and helpful analysis on your work.

before we jump into it, lets take a look at the abrreviations of (1,2 1nd 3 numbers)

1- The praises ( the job you did well in the challenge)

2- where you should keep an eye on

3- The work you can do to improve them in your warmups.

    so yeah! lets start with the LINES;

    1.

    • The lines looks confident and are drawn from the shoulder so good job on that.

    • Ghosting work is nicely done here ( meaning you did take time to plan and plot the starting and end dots of the lines before actually commiting to them)

    2.

    • there's nothing much to nitpick about. the improvements in the line work can be seen the later stages your submission, so nice!

    3.

    • continue to remind yourself to draw from shoulder and prioritize confident first always.

now moving on to THE BOXES:

    1.

    • you did take time to construct and experiment variety of boxes in your work so good job on that

    • Checking your mistakes: your mistakes are slowly reducing in the challenge because of the line extention method (that is checking your mistakes by extending the correction lines away from the viewer) , because of this You got some pretty decent amount of convergence on the later boxes so good job on that too!

    2.

    • Coverging and diverging problem is still present in the later stages of the challenge. its pretty common so no worries but keep an eye on them to and continue to practice in your warm ups.

    3.

    • THE INNER CORNER PARADOX: In this challenge, we are estimating where our lines going to converge to a point. as we are humans, it is almost impossible to perfectly estimate where our lines will going to converge thereby resulting in an error. this error will continue to accumulate as we construct the box freely rotated in space. finally this accumulated error will be thrown to the back corner. So its pretty normal to have the inner back corner come out pretty off.

I want to take a look at this info here;https://i.imgur.com/8PqQLE0.png

In this image we can know that how each line will behave relating to the position from its neighbouring edges and the VP.So we can arrive at the conclusion that, If the distance between the internal edges and external edges gets reduce more and more they will eventually become parallel to one and another ( but keep in mind they will converge slightly at a negligable amount no matter what). Alternatively If the distance between the internal corner and the external grow more and more the internal line will also converge.

you can also try and start from the back corner if the box is narrower.https://imgur.com/a/DHlA3Jh.

if your aware of these notes, then you need to build mileage by including 1-2 boxes in your daily warm up routine. after that your boxes will get better and better.

try to experiment with your boxes and have fun with it. try to construct some bigger and extreme foreshortening boxes as well in your warm ups. experimentation, observation and results ( like in practicals :D) is always important for our growth.

*Moving on to the Bonus works ( this includes line weight, hatching )

    1.

    • good job on utilizing the hatching and line weight ( applied on the boxes silhouette) tool to create a solid box and continue to use them in your warm ups.

    • hatching lines and super imposed lines are pre planned before execution so great job mate!

    2.

    • In my opinion it is best to avoid using whiteners to cover the mistakes. keep the mistakes as it is and try to move on thinking them as it is coreect and take notes of it to avoid in the future

    3.

even for hatching and line weights we should continue treat every lines with respect How do we treat with respect?- first we should plan where our lines will start and end by plotting the points and ghost them several times ( hovering in motion) and draw them with confidence and from the shoulder.

    MY POINT OF VIEW:

overall this was the solid submission!

we all know, this challenge was very intimidating because of constructing 250 boxes arbitrarily rotated in 3d and yet you did a great job by keeping persistent till the end with lots of effort, focus, energy and time so hats off for that. Be proud of What you have Accomplished

" A BOX A DAY KEEP OUR ISSUES AWAY"

Yes, We've come to the end of this feedback. overall, this was a solid submission Your submission reveals that you did take time to read through the lesson materials, followed the instructions and executed to your best of your ability. so that's good job!..thank you for submitting your assignment to the community.I'm confident that you will improve much better In the future by keeping the mistakes in mind in your Warm ups.

so yeah I'm allowing you to move on to Lesson 2 by marking the challenge as Complete.

Yippee ! we have completed this challenge. congratulations!. I hope this feedback helps . Have a wonderful artistic journey. keep goin. I'm awaiting to see your Progress.

    Thank you ELVENSTAR!

    Next Steps:

    1. THE WARM UPS ( don't forget about the lesson 1 :D)

    2. yeah move on to lesson 2

    3. keep in mind the mistakes as well as the good jobs and move forwards!

Thank you. have a nice day ;)

YAY! congratulations on completing this challenge Pioanstefan. you did really good at the end.

Hello! this is Chiran, Today I'll be taking a llok at your submission and offer my feedback in solid and helpful manner as possible.

before we jump into it, lets take a look at the abrreviations of (1,2 1nd 3 numbers)

1- The praises ( the job you did well in the challenge)

2- where you should keep an eye on

3- The work you can do to improve them in your warmups.

    so yeah! lets start with the LINES;

    • neatly planned and executed ( meaning the ghosting job is nicely done!) so good job Mate.

    • yep! they are confidently drawn in most of the boxes so thats good job too!

    2.

    • one of the main thing I noticed is that you did seem to repeat or correct the inner lines of the boxes as we can see box no (215,223,227,220 etc). this repeating or correcting thingy should be avoided in the warm ups so keep an eye on that as it may create messier boxes.
    • so we advise you to try your best to not repeat or correct them and move on thinking as it is correct and take note of it to avoid in the future construction.

    • we should continue treat every lines with respect How do we treat with respect?- first we should plan where our lines will start and end by plotting the points and ghost them several times ( hovering in motion) and draw them with confidence and from the shoulder.

    • Last thing which is worth Reminding here is that Speed of execution: when to increase the speed of drawing the lines and when to slow down?

If the lines came out dark, wobbly, contains subtle S curve and undershooted then increasing the speed of drawing your lines can reduce these issues. however if the lines are overshooting more and the flow of ink in your pen is inconsistent then its advisable to reduce the speed and try to lift the pen off the page when reaching the end dot.

feel free to experiment with different speed of drawing your lines from point A to point B during your warm up session and opt for the smooth and consistent ones. Increasing the speed of execution can really help in reducing wobbly lines and subtle S curves.. And it can also help in reducing the course correction of your lines too!.

Always make sure you are starting at the Starting dot exactly after the ghosting.

yes We should continue to use ghosting method, drawing from shoulder and make sure that We are always use our arm to get the best flow as possible.

    moving on to THE BOXES:

    1.

    • Checking your mistakes: your mistakes are slowly reducing in the challenge because of the line extention method (that is checking your mistakes by extending the correction lines away from the viewer) , because of this You got some pretty decent amount of convergence on the later boxes so good job on that

    2.

    • Coverging and diverging problem is still present in the later stages of the challenge. its pretty common so no worries but keep an eye on them to and continue to practice in your warm ups.

    • experimenting with the boxes construction is lacking in your work. so try to change the length, width and depth and also experiment with the type of foreshortening too! it will definitely help

Moving on to the Bonus works ( this includes line weight, hatching and line extension method)

    1.

    • good job on utilizing the hatching and line weight ( applied on the boxes silhouette) tool to create a solid box and continue to use them in your warm ups.

    • hatching lines are pre planned before execution so great job mate!

    2.

    • one thing worth noting is , the line weeight should only be applied on the boxes silhouette\body not all the lines. prioritize confidence and draw from your shoulder always. keep reminding that!

    • line extention method for checking your mistake is extending in the wrong direction for some of your boxes. however these are presented in minority ( like box 196,212) so keep an eye on that. how?

    1. here's how-
    • A way to make sure you do this correctly 100% of the times, is to always extend the lines away from the center dot of the Y, as shown here:

    https://imgur.com/iNpIubA

    MY POINT OF VIEW:

we all know, this challenge was very intimidating because of constructing 250 boxes arbitrarily rotated in 3d and yet you did a great job by keeping persistent till the end with lots of effort, focus, energy and time so hats off for that. Be proud of What you have Accomplished

Heya Boxaddict! (cool name :D). Congratulations on completing the challenge, you really did a ggod job mate!.keep up!

I'm Chiran and I decided to look over your submission and offer my Advises on it as best and helpful as possible.

before we get started these are the name given specifically because of their order and to represent the specific section of the boxes

    Newbies - ( 1-100 boxes) 2. Intermediates - (101-200 boxes) and 3. pros - ( 201- 250 boxes).

This feed back will consists of three parts. Alrighty! lets start exploring the three parts. Shall we?

PART 1: THE PRAISES ( The job you did well in the challenge) :)

    • Checking your mistakes: your mistakes are slowly reducing in the challenge because of the line extention method (that is checking your mistakes by extending the correction lines away from the viewer) , because of this your Intermediates and pros are looking good. so thats great!

    • while line weight and hatching are optional in this challenge. You did a solid job on using those tools to reinforce the form you are constructing ( in this case box) and thereby providing a more visual Info to the viewer. we advice you to continue to use those tools even in warm ups to build mileages with them.

    • I can say that you are building a sense of confidence and patience in drawing your boxes by plotting down the starting and end points of the lines first before executing them or before committing them, so thats nice.

SO CONTINUE TO USE THESE IN YOUR WARMUPS AND FUTURE CHAPTERS TOOO! IT DEFINITELY HELPS MATE!

PART 2: WHERE IT WENT SLIGHTLY OFF? ( Where you should keep an eye on) ( No worries part!)

You are on the right track and you have understood the concept of perspective very well so the box challenge has done its job.but there are hiccups in your work that needs to be identified and removed.

so yeah I will do my job to mention and identify some of the minor issues in your works and you can do your job by including 1-2 boxes in your warm ups to reduce them in the future.

    THE LINES;

    • FIRST THINGS FIRST, the newbies and intermediate boxes contains wobbly lines, this the result of slow and hesistant in execution. so we adiveyou to keep the confidence excution as the first priority above all else.

    • another thing we advise is that to not repeat or correct the plotted lines as i have seen in your work. they have improved in the later stage but always try your best to move on thinking them as a correct lines and making note of it to avoid in the future

    • make sure to apply the line weights only to the silhouett/ body of the boxes ot the entire boxe lines

    • Sometimes your hatching lines are not planned before executing. So we advise you to take your time to plan ( planning means plotting down the points and ghosting over them before executing) even the hatching lines and super imposed lines and execute them from your shoulder with confidence as the utmost priority. Don't get caught up on accuracy cuz It will create wobbly and uneven Lines and try your best as possible to keep the spacing of the hatching lines equal.

    Now jumping to Boxes:

of course you had improved throughout the challenge but there are times where some of the set of lines converges at a faster rates than the others resulting in converging in pairs. yep this issue you can definitely work on, in your warm ups. by trying to know the relationships between each lines related to its distance.https://imgur.com/KSHwTwo

It's completely and totally normal to have the back corner line slightly off compared to the rest.they have significantly improved at end of your work so nice job!.

It would have been better If you had taken time to Construct Some Extreme foreshortening and bigger boxes in this Challenge to build some better mileages and spatial Ability with Them also ( sine most of the newbies and Intermediates in your work are focused mainly on Shallow foreshortening).and there are times where you sometimes construct similar types of boxes in alternative pages .Shallow foreshortening boxes are Important because most of the time this is what is Demanded in the physical World. but Extreme foreshortening boxes are also Important when we want to convey more information in a scene like fish Eye perspective.

PART 3: THE JOB WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE OUR BOXES IN OUR WARM UPS

You're making good progress towards understanding the concepts introduced in this challenge, below I'll be listing some things that will hopefully help you in your future attempts at these boxes.

    1. Always make an effort to take your time while adding line weight and hatching to boxes in order to reinforce the solidity we are conveying. make sure to plan them before executing them.because every marks we make should serve its purposes.

THE INNER CORNER PARADOX: In this challenge, we are estimating where our lines going to converge to a point. as we are humans, it is almost impossible to perfectly estimate where our lines will going to converge thereby resulting in an error. this error will continue to accumulate as we construct the box freely rotated in space. finally this accumulated error will be thrown to the back corner.

Alternatively If the distance between the internal corner and the external grow more and more the internal line will also converge.

you can also try and start from the back corner if the box is narrower.https://imgur.com/a/DHlA3Jh.

if your aware of these notes, then you need to build mileage by including 1-2 boxes in your daily warm up routine. after that your boxes will get better and better and will eventually make you happy at the end. :D

    1. Even if your Ink flow is inconsistent please do not repeat or re attempt or re create your lines. so again try your best to move on that nothing has happened.we should continue treat every lines with respect How do we treat with respect?- first we should plan where our lines will start and end by plotting the points and ghost them several times ( hovering in motion) and draw them with confidence and from the shoulder.

    2. And as always continue to experiment with your boxes and have fun with it. try to construct some bigger and extreme foreshortening boxes as well in your warm ups. experimentation, observation and results ( like in practicals :D) is always important for our growth.

    3. Last thing which is worth Reminding here is that Speed of execution: when to increase the speed of drawing the lines and when to slow down?

Always make sure you are starting at the Starting dot exactly after the ghosting job.

yes We should continue to use ghosting method, drawing from shoulder and make sure that We are always use our arm to get the best flow as possible.

    MY POINT OF VIEW

we all know, this challenge was very intimidating because of constructing 250 boxes arbitrarily rotated in 3d and yet you did a great job by keeping persistent till the end with lots of effort, focus, energy and time so hats off for that. Be proud of What you have Accomplished

    WHAT NEXT?

    1. yeah move on to lesson two. i belive you will improve during warmups

    2. most important: The warmups- make sure to provide 10-15 minutes before stating of the session. include lesson 1 and boxes

Hey Rosalinexo! I'm Chiran and I decided to check your submission and offer my feedback on this challenge. i'll make sure to provide solid and helpful analysis on your work as best as possible.

before we get started these are the name given specifically because of their order and to represent the specific section of the boxes

    Newbies - ( 1-100 boxes) 2. Intermediates - (101-200 boxes) and 3. pros - ( 201- 250 boxes).

This feedback will consist of three parts. So let's start exploring the three parts.

PART 1: THE PRAISES ( The job you did well in the challenge) :)

    • one of the good things you have done is checking your mistakes by extending the sets of praraleel lines of the boxes away from the viewer and taking notes of it

    • taking time to plan and execute each and every line of the boxes by ploting the ghosted points throughout the challenge

    • taking time to construct variety of boxes

    • appling line weights and hatching lines

these are the things that you did well in the challenge, so great job mate!. this should be continued throughout the rest of the course in order to develop some kind of patience and Confidence in drawing.

PART 2: WHERE IT WENT SLIGHTLY OFF? ( Where you should keep an eye on) ( No worries part!)

I think you are headed in the right direction and you have understood the concept of perspective very well so the box challenge has done its job.but there are some hiccups in your work that needs to be identified and removed.

so yeah I will do my job to mention and identify some of the issues in your works and you can do your job by including 1-2 boxes in your warm ups to reduce them in the future.

Alright lets start with your Lines-

    THE LINES:

    • one of the things I identified in your work is that you seem to repeat or correct the already plotted lines. so we advise you to not to repeat or course correct them instead try to move on thinking them as a correct lines and take note of it to avoid them in the future Your line work looks really solid and confident but they are times where you seem to hesitate while executing resulting in a slow and wobbly lines. Like we can see on most of the newbies lines. they got better in the later boxes but you should always Aware of your mistakes and work towards them by trying your best to avoid them.

    • also make sure that while applying Line weight and hatching lines that, the lines are preplanned and executed with confidence from the shoulder to avoid wobbly and inconsistent lines. ( planning means plotting down the starting and end points) and try as best as possible to keep the spacing of the hatching lines equal.

    • I should make a point that the line weight should only be applied to thesilhouettes/ body of the boxes not the entire boxes to make it look solid.

    THE BOXES:

    • Of course Your Convergence set of parallel lines have much Improved at the End of the Challenge, but there are times where some of the set of lines converges at a faster rates than the others resulting in converging in pairs. yep this issue you can definitely work on, in your warm ups. by trying to know the relationships between each lines related to its distance

    https://imgur.com/KSHwTwo

and the back corner lines got a little off of the tangent there. It's completely and totally normal at this stage to have the back corner line slightly off compared to the rest. but try to always keep in mind that every lines in the boxes behave differently even in a subtle manner( as in case of shallow foreshortening)

PART 3: THE JOB WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE OUR BOXES IN OUR WARM UPS:

    1. The Converging in pairs and Lines diverging Issues will take more time and practice to get reduced in our work. So we should always be mindful of the lines relationship respective to its relative position from the Vanishing points.

      https://i.imgur.com/8PqQLE0.png.

So its pretty normal to have the inner back corner come out pretty off.

    I want to take a look at this info here ;

    https://i.imgur.com/8PqQLE0.png

In this image we can know that how each line will behave relating to the position from its neighbouring edges and the VP.So we can arrive at the conclusion that, If the distance between the internal edges and external edges gets reduce more and more they will eventually become parallel to one and another ( but keep in mind they will converge slightly at a negligable amount no matter what). Alternatively If the distance between the internal corner and the external grow more and more the internal line will also converge.

you can also try and start from the back corner if the box is narrower

    https://imgur.com/a/DHlA3Jh

if your aware of these notes, then you need to build mileage by including 1-2 boxes in your daily warm up routine. after that your boxes will get better and better and will eventually make you happy at the end. :D

2.feel free to experiment with different speed of drawing your lines from point A to point B during your warm up session and opt for the smooth and consistent ones.If the lines came out dark, wobbly, contains subtle S curve and undershooted then increasing the speed of drawing your lines can reduce these issues. however if the lines are overshooting more and the flow of ink in your pen is inconsistent then its advisable to reduce the speed and try to lift the pen off the page when reaching the end dot.

    1. And as always continue to experiment with your boxes and have fun with it. practice some bigger boxes and dramatic foreshortening boxes to solve some more spatial problems.

    2. Always make an effort to take your time while adding line weight and hatching to boxes in order to reinforce the solidity we are conveying. make sure to plan them before executing them.because every marks we make should serve its purposes.

Last but not the least,-you can plot as many points of starting and end point of a line in a box and can check them without Even committing to them while ghosting over them.

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
