    Hi,

Your overall work looks quite fine. You can improve your confidence. Try to draw a single line with a clear purpose and don't redraw it if it looks bad. Other than that, you can go ahead and start lesson 3 in my opinion.

    Have a nice day.

    Hi,

You have the same problem that I do. I am not sure myself but we might be focusing on too much to rules or worry too much about the end look of our drawings. I saw you have lines that are not confident, leaves or petals that are not following their initial directional lines properly. But, like I said, I am not sure if this is the actual problem or not. I hope someone who have better understanding than mine will review your work.

Hi, your overall work is fine but you should try to be more confident with your lines. I recommend doing ghosted lines. Try to focus on confidence instead of hitting two dots perfectly. If your line starts to divert from your finishing point, let it be. This is explained 'Mistake: Wobbly lines' part of the Ghosted Lines exercise as well as throughout the whole first part of the lesson.

Also, I highly recommend doing 250 boxes challenge which will improve your understanding of 3D space and vanishing points. Your boxes can use some improvement but they are not so bad. Mines were similar to yours and after 250 boxes challenge, they improved drastically. If you don't have time for 250, you can draw at least 180 boxes in my opinion but try to do 250 :)

    Have a super day

    Hi Anita,

All your work looks fine to me but with one significant issue: unconfident lines. According to lessons, we should put more focus on confidence over accuracy. Taking more time with your lines may work or maybe you are thinking about the next step instead of focusing on the line you're drawing (like I do). Regardless of the reason, I'm sure focusing on your line confidence will be beneficial.

Have a nice day as well.

The first thing I've realized right away was the wobbly lines in your box work. I have the same issue; when I focused on vanishing point or how the box I'm drawing will look like instead of focusing on the line I'm drawing, I loose confidence. I guess there is a similar issue with your work as well. I believe we can both try to draw our lines with more confidence.

Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.

Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.

These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.

We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.

Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
