Hi hello!! Have my critique -w-

    LINES

    1. Superimposed lines: I see you did a lot of them, lots of practice :D The longer lines are arching quite a bit, but overall good job, especially with the shorter lines and nice job with the curvy ones

    2. Ghosted lines: Straight and accurate, very nice

    3. Ghosted planes: That's a lotta planes :D Very straight and very accurate, very great :D

    ELLIPSES

    1. Tables of ellipses: Fairly smooth lines, fitting inside the frame VERY nicely, great job

    2. Ellipses in planes: Same as statement above ^

    3. Funnels: Lotsa funnels, symmetric, fitting in great

    BOXES

    1. Plotted perspective: All according to the instructions, I see you went a bit random with the shading in some places but that's not really important to the overall exercise anyway

    2. Rough perspective: I see you went over some lines multiple times, presumably without the intention to make them more visible, so try to only draw the line once no matter how it comes out in the future. You did 3 pages instead of 2 (unless there are 2 photos of the same page and i missed it), not sure why. Also, you didn't trace back the lines to check how accurate they were, so I advise you to do that as it's part of the exercise

    3. Rotated boxes: Great job, looks nice to me

    4. Organic perspective: The boxes are looking great, the lines are fairly straight, boxes are gradually getting smaller towards the end of the line properly, great job

    Next Steps:

Do draw through the lines to the horizon line in the Rough Perspective exercise, as it's part of the homework. Other than that, I'd say you can freely move onto the 250 boxes challenge :3

    Hi!! Here's my critique :>

    LINES

    1. Superimposed lines: Fairly accurate, fraying only a little on the end, overall very good. Great job with the curvy lines,

    2. Ghosted lines: Straight and very accurate, good job

    3. Ghosted planes: Extremely accurate, I see that pretty much all the lines meet in the same spot, great job

    ELLIPSES

    1. Tables of ellipses: Drawn through both times, smooth lines, close enough to fit inside the frame. A lot of the ellipses' both attempts are really accurate, very nice job

    2. Ellipses in planes: Smooth lines, fitting inside the borders well, good job again :D

    3. Funnels: Symmetric, good job

    BOXES

    1. Plotted perspective: According to the instructions, though I'm not 100% sure if it's necessary to draw the lines all the way to the vanishing point, but as far as I can tell the lines are all correct

    2. Rough perspective: I see you went through some lines multiple times, but as far as I know we're supposed to draw it once no matter how it came out, so watch out for that. Overall nice job

    3. Rotated boxes: You drew all the lines in the back, overall looks great to me

    4. Organic perspective: Straight lines, great job

    Overall, wonderful job :D

    Next Steps:

I'd say you can freely move onto the 250 boxes challenge :]

Hello there :D here's my attempt at giving you a critique:

    LINES

    1. Superimposed lines: I can see that some of the longer lines arch, so you could try to focus on your shoulder movement more. Overall you did good, especially on the shorter lines. Feel free to experiment with even longer lines

    2. Ghosted lines: They look fairly straight and accurate, good job

    3. Ghosted planes: Same here, good job

    ELLIPSES

    1. Tables of ellipses: They fit in the frame very nicely, and you properly went through them 2 times. Though I can see that there is quite a good amount of wobbly lines, so you could try to focus more on keeping the line smooth rather than accurate.

    2. Ellipses in planes: Your ellipses are smoother here, so good job. Again, they fit very nicely in the frame.

    3. Funnels: Even smoother, goodgood. You executed the symmetry very well which I personally found difficult to do, very accurate, great job

    BOXES

    1. Plotted perspective: All according to the instructions, goodgood

    2. Rough perspective: Some lines wobble just a bit, and a few of them are noticably not perpendicular/parallel compared to the horizon line, but generally you followed the instructions well :>

    3. Rotated boxes: nicenice, quite symmetric, and as far as i can see you drew all the lines behind.

    4. Organic perspective: The boxes properly get smaller gradually, a little wobbly here and there, overall nice job

    Next Steps:

I'd say you're good to go and give the 250 boxes challenge a shot :D

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
